In a game of ‘what could have been’ Thunder had to make do with just the single point on the road this time around. The away side had plenty of chances that they could not capitalise on and were ultimately punished by a well organised and spirited Canucks side during overtime.

In front of a large home crowd in Cardiff, Thunder too an early lead, and led once again at the end of the second period. However, Thunder’s failure to capitalise on a number of power play opportunities kept the Canucks in the game and a quick turnaround with 10 minutes left to play made the score 3-2. Thunder bravely rallied and the game was tied up with 6 minutes left when MacGarvey found the net. Another big opportunity to win the game slipped by, after a 5 minute major put Thunder on the PP for the final 2 minutes of regulation and first 3 of overtime – however the special teams units struggled to get set up and soon after returning to even strength Cardiff found a winner to take the extra point on the night.
