19 Year old defenceman #88 Charles Coney returns to Thunder for next season, once again on a 2-way agreement with Coventry NIHL Blaze (NIHL2N). Charles iced for the club in 10 games last season, showing promising signs that he was ready to take the step up to NIHL1 level on a more regular basis. This season Charles will continue to ice for both clubs, with Thunder matches having priority.

Charles has positive thoughts about returning to Milton Keynes next season:

After playing a few games for Thunder last season I am excited to be back for a second year with the club. Hopefully this year, as a team, we can show improvements and become a more competitive in this league.

Head Coach Will Fry on Charles’ return:

Charles has shown promise in his transition to senior hockey. He had 2 very strong U18 seasons, and adapted well to his opportunities with NIHL Blaze. I’ve heard good things about him from last season with Thunder, where he performed well in difficult circumstances. I’m hoping that this year we can push him on a little bit and really put his potential to the test. Charles knows where the goal is, and operates well from the blue line in the offensive zone. If we can unlock some of the points he has achieved at U18 and NIHL 2 level then he will become a valuable piece of our puzzle next season and moving forwards.

Charles will be looking forward to developing on the foundations he laid with Thunder last season, and will be looking forward to receiving your support come September when the new campaign gets underway.
