Charlie Conroy signs first senior deal

Charlie Conroy is back, and this time it's permanent!

18 Year old Milton Keynes junior Charlie Conroy has put pen to paper on his first senior deal!

Having played for Thunder as a prospect for the last two seasons, whilst captain of the MK U18’s, Charlie has proven more than capable of meeting the demands of senior hockey.

Charlie is looking forward to making the step up to NIHL 1 permanently, commenting:

“I am excited to be joining Thunder full time next season, and I’m looking forward to developing further under Will, and continuing to play my hockey in Milton Keynes.”

Head Coach Will Fry had the opportunity to watch Charlie play some games last season, and got a closer look at club trials last month:

“Charlie is an exciting prospect. I had heard really good things about him from previous coaches when I took on the role, and for a young player to stand out like he did during our trials is testament not only to his personal motivation and dedication, but also his coaches through the MK Junior system. We want to build a team with a core of young players, especially those coming through the MK system, who are driven to move forward with their hockey careers and Charlie certainly ticks all the boxes. He’s been around the club for a couple of years and is already a popular member of the room – from what I know/have seen already I’m excited to see what his future holds and believe that he will develop into a really important player for us in time.”

Thunder also asked Milton Keynes U18’s Head Coach David Sheahan for comment:

“I’ve had the pleasure of being Charlie’s junior coach for the past few years and it’s been a pleasure to watch him grow and develop as a hockey player.  He’s got good hands and great hockey sense which showed when he played up with Thunder last season.  I’m sure he’ll continue to develop and will be a good addition to the Thunder roster; not least for his chirps!”

We’re certainly looking forward to seeing Charlie in a Thunder jersey again next season, and continuing our proud record of offering playing and development opportunities in partnership with Milton Keynes Juniors for young athletes who wish to further their hockey careers.

Charlie’s Own & Loan jerseys have now been taken, thanks to Lois Haynes and #61 Cox for supporting Charlie for the upcoming season!
