Return of the Mac: Harry Rejoins Thunder
Thunder are delighted to confirm the return of home-grown forward Harry MacGarvey, who has rejoined us for our NIHL 2 South campaign after a brief spell away in Nottingham.
After moving to Nottingham Lions for a short spell as he finished his university commitments last season, welcome back to Thunder 21 year old forward Harry MacGarvey, who will once again wear the #22 jersey for the upcoming season. A product of the MK junior system, Harry first made the step up to senior hockey with Thunder during the 2020-21 season playing in the NIHL South Cup. Since then he has developed his offensive game at NIHL 1 level where his speed and ability to find the net has been key for the club. Last season Harry registered 7 points in 13 games for Thunder, as well as an impressive 10 points in 9 games for the Lions 2 team playing in NIHL 2 North. Harry has also represented Nottingham Mavericks in the BUIHA for the past three seasons as well as participating in the renowned Nottingham Varsity game for Nottingham Trent University, from where he has recently graduated.
Harry had the following to say about his decision to return to MK:
I am really excited to be back with the group and playing under Will again. After seeing some of the player retentions and the recruitment being done by Will and Lauren the Thunder project looks to be setup for success this year.
Head Coach Will Fry commented on Harry’s return:
Harry reached out at the end of the season to see whether there would be a possibility to come back, he provided real energy for us last year when he was able to ice for us, and his speed and hockey brain will bring a lot of value – especially now we’ve dropped into NIHL 2 for the upcoming year. He’s a player I enjoy working with and I expect we will see big things from him this year. Its great to have him back with us as part of a roster that we feel has a real opportunity to compete for silverware.
Harry’s Home & Away jerseys are available now for own and loan, at a cost of £80 each. Please email mkthundericehockey@gmail.com to reserve yours today.
