Welcome Ed Harley
Former Sutton Sting junior Ed Harley makes moves down M1 to join Thunder for upcoming season.
Welcome to Thunder #63 Ed Harley. The 19 year old forward last played for Nottingham Lions 2 in the NIHL 2 North, and is another former Nottingham Maverick who spent last season alongside new Head Coach Will Fry, and current Thunder players Harry MacGarvey, James Cox and Nathan Mead in the University program.
Previously of Sutton Sting juniors, Ed had a standout U18’s season scoring 33 points in 13 games, as well as being selected for U18 showcase where he represented Team Longstaff.
Ed is keen to get started and relishing the challenge of making the step up to NIHL 1 level:
I’m excited for a fresh challenge at a higher level, alongside a roster of great people. It will be interesting to see what can come out of the season ahead.
Thunder Head Coach Will Fry spoke more about adding another of his former players to a much refreshed roster:
Ed has a lot of potential. It’s easy to forget his age sometimes, he comes a very mature and calm persona with a lot of raw talent. Thunder will provide a great opportunity for Ed to push himself forwards and realise his potential as a player. He already understands the foundations of how we will look to play based on his time with myself and some of the other guys in Nottingham, the main focus will be for him to adapt to a slighter faster and more physical style of play.
Ed will get on well with everyone on the roster, and it’s great that we’ve put together a group of ambitious young players who will be able to work together and compete to bring the best out of one another.
Ed adds another young and dynamic option to our team sheet for the season ahead, it’s not long now until we get to see them in action.
You can reserve Ed’s Home and Away Own & Loan jersey now for £95 each.
