Thunder are delighted to welcome back 19 year old forward #24 Charlie Conroy. Having initially played as a prospect Charlie stepped into a full time role with the team last season, scoring his first senior goals in a campaign where he impressed across a number of roles.

Charlie, elder brother of prospect Lewis, is also a product of the MK Storm academy – completing his final season of juniors last year as part of the U19 team, having served as captain for the U18’s the year prior. Charlie is relishing the chance to get back to it for Thunder and be part of the squad to face a new challenge in NIHL 2 South:

I’m excited to be back for another year with Thunder and think this year is going to be fun and exciting for us. It will also be a special year for me and my family as Lewis and myself get to share senior ice together competitively for the first time. 

Both Charlie and Lewis were inspired to take up the game by their uncle Jamie Cox who also came through the Milton Keynes junior system before representing Thunder for a short period during the club’s time in the ENL. We’re proud to have them both on board continuing the family legacy with us.

Thunder Head Coach Will Fry commented on the decision to keep Charlie onboard:

Charlie is a really valuable asset for us. He has heaps of potential and a first class attitude. He’s probably first in last out 99% of the time, and his commitment to the club and our partnership with the junior section is fantastic. Not only has he demonstrated his capability on the ice, but he also serves as a perfect role model for the youngsters that we have coming through the system, both in the way he plays and his willingness to assist wherever needed off the ice both with Thunder and coaching with the Storm teams. This year will be a special one for him and his family as Lewis is now eligible to play for us too, something that I know both of them will be excited for – as we all are. Hopefully this year we will see Charlie’s confidence increase and help his game mature to the levels we know it is capable of reaching.
