Dom Deal: Wealthall Back!
Physical presence Dom Wealthall returns to Thunder's blue line for 2025/26 season.
Bringing experience and physicality back to Thunder’s defensive core, Dom Wealthall returns for the upcoming season. The 6 foot 1 defenceman has grown popular with fans over his past two seasons with the club and will be relishing his return when we begin our challenge in NIHL 2. Having played juniors in Nottingham, Dom moved out to Canada to continue his development with the Bradford Bulls and Fergus Devils, before taking a break from the sport only to resume his career with Thunder in 2023.
Since then he has gone on to represent the club 35 times, providing a strong backbone with a physical no-nonsense game built around a strong technical foundation. Dom is a significant member of our locker room, providing a calming and reassuring presence for our young roster – as well as demonstrating strong leadership skills and setting a strong culture of accountability and hard work.
Dom is looking forward to being back in MK for another season:
I am thrilled to re-sign with Thunder. Everyone should be excited for the challenges ahead in a new league. This new era will bring fast, dynamic hockey, creating an exciting season for the players and fans. I look forward to seeing you all in September and making this year one to remember. Let’s get to work!
Head Coach Will Fry was keen to ensure Dom returned to Thunder:
Dom has been a really important member of our roster. He has a great foundation of core skills, moves the puck well and is effective at both ends of the ice, but his stature and physical play is vital with the roster that we have built and provides our younger players with confidence and the ability to play without fear. Discipline let Dom down at times last season, but as with all of our players there are elements of their games that need improving and with Dom’s ability to play and read that game, as we continue to tidy up this area we have a player that any team at this level would be desperate to have. I expect Dom to have a big impact on our upcoming season, he’s dedicated, engaged and what I love most is that there is willingness to learn that you don’t see often in more experienced players. We’re very happy to have him back.
Dom’s Home & Away jerseys are available for Own and Loan now, at a cost of £80 each. Please email mkthundericehockey@gmail.com to reserve yours.
