Thunder are delighted to welcome James Moeller, who will wear the number 81 jersey for the upcoming season. The experienced defenseman joins from NIHL 1 North’s Solihull Barons, where he came through the junior system before establishing himself in the senior team for 9 seasons. Specialised in the defensive side of the game, Moeller will not only bring solidity to Thunder’s blue line, but a willingness to share his knowledge and expertise with our younger group, complimenting our ongoing development commitment and impacting the future generation players in Milton Keynes.

James is looking forward to making the move south, and gaining new experiences with Thunder in NIHL 2:

I’m really excited to be joining the Thunder for the 2025/26 season. I’ve heard fantastic things about the organisation and am excited to be a part of the direction the clubs heading in. The team looks to be shaping up to be very competitive for the season ahead and is testament to Will and his teams work. I can’t wait to get going and look forward to meeting you all very soon.

Head Coach Will Fry is delighted to capture a player of James’ pedigree:

James is a fantastic addition to our roster. We lacked a little bit defensively last season and it was vital for our aspirations in NIHL 2 this season that we looked to solve that this summer. James will provide consistency and quality in that area, but he also brings a wealth of experience for our younger players to lean on and help in their own development. We’re very happy with how our roster is shaping up and will be looking to push for silverware next year, James will play a key role in helping us to achieve those goals and we look forward to welcoming him into the group.
